LEARNING ABOUT WINE: Wine Production in Fuissé: A History
Wine Production in Fuissé: A History The village of Fuissé sits near the southern end of Burgundy’s limestone belt, where the vineyard land of the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise gives way, a few kilometers to the south, to the granitic terrain of Beaujolais. It is a small commune in the department of Saône-et-Loire, and ... Read more The post LEARNING ABOUT WINE: Wine Production in Fuissé: A History first appeared on My VanCity .

Time to rediscover aligoté
There’s something of the ugly duckling about the aligoté grape in Burgundy. For a long time, it was relegated to being blended with blackcurrant liqueur for the aperitif kir. But things are happening now — in fact, they have been for several years. Aligoté is starting to take a more prominent place among the white […] Continue reading: Time to rediscover aligoté The post Time to rediscover aligoté was originally published on BKWine Magazine and written by Britt Karlsson . The quest for value in ‘Outer Burgundy’
Welcome to another instalment of 'these are all the Burgundies I've tasted recently', a collection of indulgent tasting highlights from my visit to the Grand Jours de Bourgogne 2026 (a week-long wine fair in this famed French wine region in early March). So far in this series, I've looked at how much Chablis I can taste in one session, been bedazzled by a smorgasbord of Vosne mega-wines, tasted many mercurial Mâconnais whites, worked through a challenging lineup from the Côte de Nuits, and topped it with some Volnay/Pommard seduction. Today, I'm tackling something important - Burgundy that nudges closer to being affordable. Sort of. For this quest, I'm turning to some lesser-known producers and wines from what Jancis Robinson calls 'Outer Burgundy' (the appellations beyond the famous Côte d'Or), with a particular focus on the cradle of Burgundian bargains, the Côte Chalonnaise. Grands Jours in Burgundy
Spotlight on the 2023 and 2024 Burgundy vintages across the Côte d’Or. The 2023 vintage stands out for its generosity, high yields, and wines that are fruity, balanced, and approachable even in their youth. The 2024 vintage, marked by extreme weather conditions, low yields, and rigorous selection, produces precise, taut, and concentrated wines with remarkable aging potential. The event concludes with a tasting of the 2016 Clos Vougeot, a prime example of the depth and complexity of great Burgundy wines.

LEARNING ABOUT WINE Crémant de Bourgogne
Crémant de Bourgogne Crémant de Bourgogne is easier to understand when it is treated as one of Burgundy’s wine categories rather than as a secondary alternative to more famous sparkling regions. It is made by the traditional method, and it shares Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with Champagne, but those facts do not tell the reader ... Don’t call it Burgundy: How to find great wines for less from France’s Bourgogne region
Way back in the 1990s, when I began visiting “Burgundy,” as it was then commonly called, in France, it was not so easy to navigate the region’s many wine producers, villages and restaurants. There was little readily available information on the internet. English was rarely spoken and arranging tastings at the many small, family-owned domaines […]
