The first installment of our mega 2025 issue features Brunello standard Il Poggione, a new Lirac project called Etienne that'll make you think you're drinking Chateaneuf, and a survey of Urugua's summery whites. 2025 Edition: A Last Lap Around The World
This journey started off as a love for the product of wine, but it’s turned into something far more meaningful that I’ve been frustratingly unable to capture in Good Vitis, which is why this will be the last issue. The post 2025 Edition: A Last Lap Around The World first appeared on Good Vitis .

F/W 24′ The Whole Shebang: All The Articles
We've got a one-of-a-kind Napa sauvignon blanc clone; a tiny report on the Colorado wine scene; check-in's with Morét Brealynn, Merry Edwards, and Clarice Wine Company; killer cru Beaujolais; a piece on the absurdity and absurdly cool thing of aging wine; and a profile of Russian River Valley's Bucher Wines. F/W 24′ Checking In: Clarice Wine Company
A Winemaker Philosopher seeks to improve wine and our individual and collective ability to enjoy it.There may be better examples of winemaker philosophers, but the best example I have is Adam Lee. The post F/W 24′ Checking In: Clarice Wine Company first appeared on Good Vitis .

F/W 24′ Profile: Bucher Wines
My time with the Buchers explained why I like their wines as much (and in some cases more so) than other’s Bucher Vineyard designates. The vineyard is, after all, theirs, and it shows. I can appreciate why Bucher is a favorite insider's wine of diligent Russian River Valley pinot lovers. The post F/W 24′ Profile: Bucher Wines first appeared on Good Vitis .

F/W 24′ Checking In: Merry Edwards
I asked Chat GPT to list the most reliable things in the world. Its answer included the sun rising and setting, gravity, the speed of light, heartbeats, laws of physics, the circle of life, taxes, the Gregorian calendar, and Merry Edwards Winery making great wine. F/W 24′ Feature: Back To The Vintage
Aging wine is such a privileged thing to do, it’s such an abstract thing to do, and it’s one of the more imprecise wine topics to try to capture in a coherent way, which is saying quite a bit. It’s kind of an absurd topic. It’s also a fascinating multi-dimensional way to travel through time and space while getting a window into the soul of a vineyard, and a winemaker, and a vintage, in a single bottle. F/W 24′ Try This Wine: Balanced Beaujolais
Try the 2021 Zest Of Fleurie Montgenas No. 135 because it shows a cru-level of the appellation’s complexity while capturing that explosive brightness often shut down by cru-level cellar treatment. It’s an incredibly pretty Beaujolais, and requires no additional aging. The post F/W 24′ Try This Wine: Balanced Beaujolais first appeared on Good Vitis .

F/W 24′ Checking In: Morét Brealynn
A common theme about her wines is that Morét seems to be happening into these phenomenal outcomes. In her third vintage, frankly, I’m seeing through the humility. The exceptional wine is no fluke or beginner’s luck, at least anymore. The post F/W 24′ Checking In: Morét Brealynn first appeared on Good Vitis .

F/W 24′ Feature: A Tiny Colorado Wine Report
In Sauvage Spectrum, Blue Beryl, and Ordinary Fellow there are strong examples of young wine professionals experimenting with a wide range of grapes and styles in Colorado. And, in Hermosa there is an example of how an accumulation of experience can pay off. While a small sample, it’s not bad as microcosm if it’s an accurate one at scale.
