This one comes with a guarantee of freshness. The Urbina Selección 2000 Rioja is one of the most unique wines we’ve come across, not just because of its age, but because of how it was aged. After spending about a year in a mix of French and American oak, the wine was transferred into large stainless steel tanks and held there for over 15 years before bottling. That changes everything. Instead of evolving in a typical oxidative way, the wine was essentially held in a state of suspended animation. It developed complexity and age, but retained an incredible sense of freshness and fruit. Now, at 25 years old, it delivers the best of both worlds. In the glass, you get bright red cherry fruit, spice, subtle earth, and that c

Cocktail Recipe - The Cosmonaut
The story There’s plenty of cocktails that are variations on previous ones. Ingredients or methods tinkered with until the bartender is satisfied he has improved upon the original. The Cosmonaut is the only one I can think of that was invented as a reaction against a popular cocktail. Sasha Petraske was a New York based bar owner who had earned his place in cocktail history well before his untimely passing at the age of 43. He opened Milk & Honey on new year’s eve 1999 and more than any other is considered the first of the modern speakeasy style bars. Any time you have to go downstairs into a windowless bar with 1920s stylings, you have Petraske to thank for the enjoyable experience that awaits. Milk & Honey operated a set of charming house rules including ‘no shouting’ and ‘gentlemen will not introduce themselves to ladies. Ladies, feel free to start a conversation. If a man you don;t know speaks to you, please left your chin slightly and ignore him’ Amongst Petraske’s legacy du

videoChianti Classico + Sautéed Veal Chop
At Primi Italian Steakhouse on Long Island, David Kohl pairs his sautéed veal chop with a half bottle of 2019 Fontodi Chianti Classico, an organic selection produced from the Sangiovese grape. Fontodi ‘s style is considered a modern version of Chianti Classico because it is known more for its fruit structure rather than for its rustic - earthy notes. As a half-bottle format, the 2019 is appropriately aged and ‘drinking now’. #winepodcast #chianticlassico #fontodiwine #longislandfoodie #foodandwine
videoWine doesn't always need a special occasion...
Save this as a reminder that great wine doesn’t need a special occasion. 🐾 Some of my favorite rituals happen right here at home — slowing down, sharing a quiet moment, and opening a bottle of St. Francis wine because it’s rooted in something real. 🍷 For over five decades, St. Francis Winery has been crafting expressive, beautifully balanced wines in Sonoma County — family-owned, sustainably grown, and made with deep respect for the land. Their Sonoma Chardonnay is rich, and effortlessly food-
