Glenkinchie 2008 / Caol Ila 2007 (DeinWhisky)
We received a package with two new releases from Sansibar . These are white label bottlings exclusively available from DeinWhisky , from Glenkinchie and Caol Ila distilleries. Both whiskies are 18 years old and come from a sherry cask but with a clearly different cask influence. Glenkinchie 18 yo 2008 (54,1%, Sansibar for DeinWhisky.de 2026, Oloroso sherry hogshead, 273 btl.) Nose: a juicy style of sherry, with sweet and sour berries at the fore. Damsons, sour cherries, hints of strawberry jam. This is lifted by some cinnamon and peppermint, leading up to subtle floral top notes. Then light cocoa and herbal honey. The fruitiness and elegance are quite excellent. Mouth: now clearly more spicy and even a little tannic. There are dried herbs and drops of strong coffee along with plain winey notes. Also toffee sweetness, red fruits again (plums and cranberry) with some mint chocolate. Finish: medium to long, with a peppery and floral note as well as some citrus and toffee.Although it

Redemption Bourbon (2026 Revamp)
I’d like to thank the folks at Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits and their PR partners for providing this sample with no strings attached. Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when we were doing the BourbonGuy Brackets? I had one matchup where I said both of the competitors were “products in transition.” Well, shortly after I published the results of the bracket competition, I got an email from the producers of one of those products, completely coincidentally. They were announcing the new bottle and proof of Redemption Bourbon—an announcement that I had apparently scooped by looking at their website. I immediately asked for a sample to be sent to me. I was very interested to give the proof bump a thorough look. When it arrived, I noticed that it also had a higher stated age than previously, having gone from a 2-year-old at 88 proof to a 3-year-old at 92 proof. 2017 Karas Red Wine ($18) The 2017 Karas Red Wine is made by Karas Wines, located in the Armavir province of Armenia. The company grows its grapes in the Ararat Valley, a place where people have been making wine for over 6,200 years. The winery is named after "karas," which are traditional clay jars that locals used long ago to ferment their grapes. The vineyards are located high up in a dry area with very hot summers and freezing winters. The winemaking process blends traditional hand-picking with modern cellar technology. Workers pick all the grapes by hand. Inside the winery, the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks. The final 2017 red wine is a blend made from several different grape varieties: 35% Syrah, 35% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Tannat. After the wine finishes fermenting, it is poured into oak barrels where it ages for one year before being bottled. This wine is deep purple in color with aromas of black fruit.
