LucidWild Estate
LucidWild is now clearly one of the premier players in Oregon wine. Today we share wines from one of the most impressive new wineries that I have tasted from anywhere in the past year. Located in the Dundee Hills, the story of LucidWild began in January 2021 with Blair and L.J. Nicholas who helped transform the former Bella Vida vineyard into an immersive, design-forward estate featuring 28-year-old dry-farmed vines, a 15,000-square-foot facility with WineCaves, and a focus on small-production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This is my first chance to professionally review these wines and I was honesty blown away with the overall quality. The incredible 2024 LucidWild ‘Hidden’ Chardonnay (OB, 95) is a total stunner and filled with texture with rocky/salty nuance. The best wine I tasted was the total masterclass 2024 LucidWild ‘Chosen’ Pinot Noir (OB, 97). This is now cheap treat at over 300 bucks — but you are going to be amazed with its precision, its poise, richness and flavor density. It

Manhattan Project working to build facility in Waco
Foster Pavilion and parking garage at Baylor University (City of Waco). According to the minutes of a council meeting held by the City of Waco on Tuesday, a North Texas brewery may one day be operating a new location within its borders. Council members approved a lease agreement that would allow Manhattan Project Beer Co. of Dallas to construct a 10,260 square foot facility at 600 S. University Parks Dr. in Waco, the targeted location a retail development on the ground floor of the parking garage serving Foster Pavilion at Baylor University . To be built by K4 Construction , site functions would involve the "operation of a craft beer brewing and manufacturing facility, including the production, packaging, storage and distribution of beer; a taproom and bar for on-site consumption; a full-service restaurant and kitchen serving elevated bar foods and chef driven menu items; and a coffee and beverage concept." Manhattan Project produces beer at its original site on Sulphur St.

Here are the great new 2023 Virtue releases. Today we share the wines of Virtue Cellars— a Seattle-area winery that was founded in 2013 by Kevin and Kathryn Mueller. Virtue are pulling from some of the most acclaimed locations in Eastern Washington and produce roughly 1,000 cases of Bordeaux and Rhone style wines each year. From Breganze with Precision: The Wines of Maculan
The Wining Hour: In the hills of Breganze, in Italy’s Veneto region, Maculan has built a reputation rooted in precision, restraint, and deep respect for place. The winery’s story began in 1947, when Giovanni Maculan founded the estate with a focus on quality viticulture in a region better known at the time for quantity. Knudsen Vineyards
Great new lineup by Knudsen Vineyards. Today we share the wines of Oregon wine pioneers Cal and Julia Lee Knudsen who began their wine journey in 1971. Located centrally in the Dundee Hills AVA, the Knudsen family has grown grapes at this location for 45 years. For years I have loved the Argyle wines sourced from this great vineyard as these grapes have helped produce some of the top sparkling wines made in North America. After the passing of Cal Knudsen in 2009, his children, each of whom had followed individual pursuits in business and finance, were compelled to return to the vineyard and then start Knudsen Vineyards winery in 2014 with the help of Argyle winemaker Nate Klostermann, and with the assistance of Rollin Soles. 3 Nations notches another win at 2026 World Beer Cup
Image credit: Brewers Association. Tonight in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, winners were announced at the 2026 World Beer Cup (WBC). While the WBC hasn't always been a yearly event (annual competitions began in 2022), this was the 30th anniversary of the first WBC, which took place in 1996. Over that period, 24 beers brewed in North Texas have been recognized as being among the best in the world. For 2026, in a repeat of last year's result, 3 Nations Brewing Co. of Carrollton was the lone North Texas honoree, taking a bronze for its year-round Mexican lager, Texian. It's the third overall WBC award for 3 Nations, having previously won medals at the 2022 and 2025 competitions. Competition Statistics: 8,166 beers judged based on entries sent by 1,644 breweries and cideries representing 50 countries worldwide. For a historical comparison, 600 entries were submitted by 250 participating breweries in 1996. 356 medals awarded across 119 style categories covering craft beer (114) and cider (5).

Cindy & Mike Jacobsen of Above the Curve Vineyard Photos Courtesy of Above the Curve Mike and Cindy Jacobsen were school psychologists active in assessment in 6 different school districts on the Seattle side of Washington state. On Friday afternoons, they would go to wine tastings at their local QFC grocery store. Just as they were retiring, the Somm running the tastings decided to open a wine shop and bar in Enumclaw and was looking for investors. Mike and Cindy ended up investing and working in the wine shop. They sometimes went wine tasting in the Prosser area, and fell in love with the community. It wasn’t long before they purchased their dream property with a vineyard and right close to the Yakima River. It took two years for their house to be built, so they regularly came with their RV so they could monitor the house progress and work on the vineyard.
