How the Colonists Shaped American Beer
Beer has been an important staple of humanity for millennia. But how was beer important to the American colonists starting a new life in a distant place? The colonies lacked the comforts and foods of their homeland. How did they adapt and through this adaptation, change the drink they loved so much? In this episode, […] The post How the Colonists Shaped American Beer first appeared on All About Beer .

Jericho Bracken Vineyard Shiraz 2024
A fair chunk of oak plays its hand with this Jericho Bracken Vineyard Shiraz. I wasn't overly surprised to learn after tasting and compiling this review that this sees 60% new French oak for 14 months. That high percentage is telling, particularly with a rampant coconut oak note. Some menthol gets in on the aroma profile too and refuses to budge. Hmm. Dark plums, blackberries, cherry liqueur, cola, stripped bark and black tea add plenty of character, but it's hard to shake the oak. Perhaps time will help. 91/100 Region: McLaren Vale RRP: $42 Source: Sample Winery Website Subscribe to Qwine here Follow: Instagram , LinkedIn and X

Travellers Key Keg 20L Vermentino 2025
Bright and fresh with a neat textural feel, these Travellers 20L Key Kegs are a good on-premise solution to keep wines fresh as well as minimising packaging. A most enjoyable wine, this Vermentino is bursting with lemons, old-school lemonade, sea spray and a dash of saltiness. Made with a splash of Chardonnay and Fiano (2% each), there is a fine veil of minerality which adds further detail and elevates this expression, to mention the respectable length. For a wine that comes in 20L kegs, this is a great get if you see this on premise. 89/100 Region: Granite Belt RRP: $ ?? Gilberts Wines Estate Chardonnay 2025
From Mount Barker comes this barrel-fermented Chardonnay from Gilberts Wines. A curious thing that caught my attention was the scents of wet brown paper and a musty note. Odd... Tinned pineapple, bruised golden apple and firm green tea-like phenolics are the driving forces. The palate is clipped and doesn't reach as much as hoped. I'd prefer others, particularly at this price point. 85/100 Region: Mount Barker RRP: $40 Source: Sample Winery Website Subscribe to Qwine here Follow: Instagram , LinkedIn and X

Is Craft Beer Resetting in 2026? What Beer Drinkers Need to Know
The craft beer industry has always evolved, but 2026 feels different. For years, craft beer experienced explosive growth fueled by new brewery openings, limited releases, hazy IPAs, pastry stouts, and an endless stream of innovation. Today, however, many beer drinkers are beginning to notice a shift. Brewery closures continue to make headlines, overall growth has slowed, and consumers are making different purchasing decisions than they did just a few years ago. So, is craft beer declining? Not necessarily. It may simply be resetting. The Era of Unlimited Growth Is Over For much of the last decade, it seemed like every community welcomed another brewery. Consumers eagerly sought out the newest releases, chased limited cans, and traveled to experience unique taprooms. Today's market looks much different. Breweries now face: Higher ingredient costs Increased operating expenses Greater competition than ever before More cautious consumer spending Changing drinking habits Rather than endless
