Review: Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine III
To mark 25 years since its resurrection, Bruichladdich is releasing a new whisky, Yellow Submarine III, a companion to its similarly honorific Bruichladdich Old Skool (which we have not seen, sadly) and a follow-up, of course, to Yellow Submarines I and II (which we also have not reviewed). Bruichladdich’s Yellow Submarine series begin in 2005… The post Review: Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine III appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

Continue reading →

Far Class 14 yo (2012/2026, Whiskyfacile, 57.7%): collective review @ matricola pub
Continue reading →

Review: Fettercairn 12 Years Old and 16 Years Old
For 200 years, Fettercairn’s Highland single malts never officially graced American shores, at least via branded releases. In 2025, the brand introduced part of its core range to the U.S., with limited distribution on 24, 28, and 40 year old single malts. Now, the Whyte & Mackay-operated distillery is rolling out its 12 and 16… The post Review: Fettercairn 12 Years Old and 16 Years Old appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

Compass Box Orchard House Scotch Review
By Genevieve Jacot-Guillarmod Rating: B+ Compass Box is an independent Scotch whisky maker and blending company rather than a distillery. They do not own stills and, historically at least, have not distilled their own spirit. Instead, they purchase whisky from various Scottish distilleries and combine it to create their own products. They describe themselves as: …

Review: Ardbeg Dolce
This year’s release for Ardbeg Day — marked on the final day of Islay’s Feis Ile celebration — features one of the distillery’s most evocative — and successful — aging regimens. That regimen is Marsala dolce, the sweetest style of Sicilian Marsala wine, which spans secco (dry), semisecco (semi-dry), and the sweet dolce, which is… The post Review: Ardbeg Dolce appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

The 20 Most Popular Scotch Brands in the World for 2026
While Scotch whisky sales surged in 2021 and 2022, the industry has since taken consistent hits. Last year, global Scotch whisky exports slid by 4.3 percent in volume, according to The Spirits Business’ annual Brand Champions Report. The report, which ranks the world’s 20 top-selling Scotch brands by 9-liter case sales, found 13 of the biggest brands were down year-over-year. The Spirits Business attributes the sagging sales to the tug-of-war over tariffs, mounting operational costs in the U.K., and wilting demand for Scotch in general, but the outlook isn’t entirely grim. Review: Talisker Magma 47 Years Old
The use of barrels toasted with hot volcanic rocks are, believe it or not, not a new idea, as Dewar’s dropped a magma-toasted barrel bottling last year. That’s not going to dull our enthusiasm for this release from Talisker, though, which at 47 years of age is the oldest distillery release to date and one… The post Review: Talisker Magma 47 Years Old appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

Review: Lagavulin 11 Years Old Sweet Peat
11 year old expressions of Lagavulin have historically come with one man’s name attached: Nick Offerman. All four of the Offerman Edition Lagavulins have been 11 year old offerings, and no others that we’ve tasted. Lagavulin 11 Years Old Sweet Peat isn’t a one-off but a new permanent expression, aged completely in first-fill ex-bourbon casks.… The post Review: Lagavulin 11 Years Old Sweet Peat appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

Review: Oban 15 Years Old Port Cask Finish
Hot on the heels of its 15 year old Cask Strength edition, Diageo has launched another Oban expression… and it’s another 15 year old. While the Cask Strength release was finished in sherry casks, this one’s done in Port (though at 52.1% abv, it’s not far from the proof of the cask strength expression). Review: Kilkerran 16 Years Old
Kilkerran, like many other Campbeltown whiskies, owes its existence to the late Hedley Wright. The fifth-generation scion of the whisky-making Mitchell family resurrected the single malt’s parent distillery, Glengyle, in 2004 after nearly 80 years of absence. Of the many dead Campbeltown distilleries to bring back to life, why Glengyle? It probably helped that the… The post Review: Kilkerran 16 Years Old appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking .

The Glendronach Releases Limited-Edition 56-Year-Old Whisky to Commemorate Bicentennial
The Glendronach is debuting a 56-year-old Scotch whisky, the brand’s oldest expression yet, to celebrate the insider distillery’s bicentennial anniversary. With just 12 bottles allocated to the U.S. market and only 200 available worldwide, the brand is tailoring the ultrapremium release toward collectors and connoisseurs, as demonstrated by the suggested retail price of $49,000, according to a press release announcing the rollout. The 56-year age statement is more than a random choice: The Glendronach distilled the whisky in 1968, a year that produced a vintage known among devotees as the “Holy Grail” for the producer, the announcement says. If the past few weeks are any guide, Scotch whisky is leaning hard into luxury experiences and playful innovation as we roll into autumn, the headline act is Johnnie Walker’s new Vault—a global luxury hub built around bespoke, archive-grade blending and curation. It’s pitched at serious collectors: rare stocks, private commissions, white-glove hospitality—the works. As […]
