Uncork La Dolce Vita at Vignamaggio in Tuscany
On screen direct from Italy, I had the most delightful conversation with Lucia Minoggio, General Manager at Vignamaggio. Having been sent six wines (as samples) for tasting and review, it was a joy to learn more about the 400 hectare estate (of which 65 hectares are under vine) located halfway between Florence and Siena in […] READ MORE The post Uncork La Dolce Vita at Vignamaggio in Tuscany appeared first on Grape Experiences .

By the likes of it over here on the central coast of California, spring and (on many days) summer are coming in strong! Even if you still have puff coats and boots by the door (I’m talking to you Midwest and Northeast friends), start thinking about wines and food pairings to welcome a new season. Lambert Bridge: Where Dry Creek Cabernet Slows You Down in the Best Possible Way
Lambert Bridge’s 2013 Limited Selection is exactly the kind of bottle that reminds you why Dry Creek makes Cabernet that can strut and still whisper at the same time. It’s polished, unapologetically Sonoma, but with just enough restraint to keep you coming back to the glass. Italy’s Top Bottles Take the New York Stage at Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri 2026
“Life is too short to drink bad wine”. Truer words were never spoken! When I walked into the massive Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City on a rainy day in March, and saw the list of producers in attendance, I knew this wasn’t something I’d have to worry about, at least not today. The entire […] READ MORE The post Italy’s Top Bottles Take the New York Stage at Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri 2026 appeared first on Grape Experiences .

What’s for Dinner? California Wines with Kitchen Standouts
One of my least favorite activities is figuring out what to make for dinner! With three children involved in several after school activities, a husband who worked constantly, my own job, and other diversions, contemplating dinners that appealed to all (yet didn’t take a great deal of time to prep and cook) led to a […] READ MORE The post What’s for Dinner? The Antiquary 15 Year Old – Claret Casks
The Antiquary is a blended whisky brand owned by the same company which owns the Tomatin distillery. I have previously looked at a cheaper version when I wrote The Antiquary 12 Year Old. That was a cheap blend which I quite liked, when you add Claret casks though it stops being a traditional style blended whisky […]

Valencian Merlot 718

Artuke Finca de los Locos, 2021
Blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, Viura grapes - I asked for an unusual Rioja with a lighter touch. An interesting chat about Graciano ensued. It is being used more widely in Rioja adding perfume and a higher acid freshness. Evident in the primary floral note aromas. Interesting to have the familiar tannic structure restrained and balanced by acidity. Viura, the white grape widely planted in Rioja (Macabeo in France), also adds to the floral character. Viura also has decent aging potential so with these two grape varieties blended with more familiar Tempranillo, this is an unusual treat from Rioja. Bottle weight 582.5g - A decent effort for sustainability. UK price ~£30
