From Veneto, Italy: L’Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGTPR SAMPLE
When I first read the label, I almost thought that this is an Amarone from Veneto. But on closer inspection the label says Amorini. There is no official tasting notes from the winery that I could locate. I did find a few other websites that reviewed this wine and it appears that this wine is a blend of two or...

My French Red Wine Picks at the Vancouver International Wine Festival 2026
I spent Friday afternoon at the Vancouver International Wine Festival 2026 tasting French red wines. Here are my favourite French wines from the International Festival Tasting Room. There is a fairly even distribution of red wines from different regions of France (and therefore different varietals) in my picks below. Enjoy. My French Red Wine Selections Castel Frères Exclusive Aspirant de...

Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2024
Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2024 $24.99 2024 is proving to be an absolute banger of a vintage for Hawke’s Bay reds, and I think this example is one of the best-value merlots on the market right now. Grown in their Gimblett Stones vineyard, this wine is a smoky sensation that’s rich, dense and yet […]

Duckhorn Vineyards Celebrates 50 Years
Fifty years is a long time in Napa Valley. Long enough to watch vineyards change hands, styles rise and fall, and reputations come and go. To reach that milestone, and still feel relevant, confident, and forward-looking, is another thing entirely. This year, Duckhorn Vineyards marks its 50th anniversary. It’s a moment that feels like a… The post Duckhorn Vineyards Celebrates 50 Years appeared first on Haute Living San Francisco .

As we welcome a new year it’s always important to think about what goals one has in mind to start the year . I myself am always looking ot broaden my horizon in the wine world and that includes exploring new wine regions, wineries and grape varieties . That is exactly the theme of our wine writers group this month led by Lynn a t Savor the Harvest this month . E ach one o f us explores something new or different to share with all our readers as well as ourselves . For me personally, I decided to share some wines that I explored recently from the Garda DOC . I recently attended a virtual tasting led by one of our writers Susannah and the VP of the Garda DOC Consorzio and owner of P e rla del Garda, Giovanna Andrea . Although visiting Lake Garda is not new to me as I have been fortunate to make it there once before, learning more about the Garda D OC and what it encompasses was newer to me . Valencian Merlot 718

my dinner with Giovanni Gaja
Surprise Dinner with Giovanni GajaEarly this summer, I received a short-notice invitation to a dinner with Giovanni Gaja at Mara restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. Usually these events have a dozen or so journalists, sommeliers, and buyers. A short-notice invitation is likely because someone dropped out. No matter, if the event is interesting and I’m available, … Continue reading →

The Silver Lining of Bolgheri: The Wines of Tenuta Argentiera
In the heart of southern Tuscany is one of o ne of Italy and Tuscany’s prestigious wine regions, Bolgheri . Wine lovers may be most familiar with this territory for the innovate “Super Tuscan” reds that hit the scene in the late 20 th century. I was introduced to these wines via a virtual tasting hosted by Argentiera and Studio Cru and led by Argentiera’s winemaker, Nicoló Carrara, whom has been their winemaker wince 2009. Nicoló Carrara In this article I feature the wines of Argentiera , a winery that takes pride in its distinctive reds made from Bordeaux grapes such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot . Where is Bolgheri ? Bolgheri sits in the southwestern part of Tuscany covering over 3,700 acres of land . The area is in the shape of an amphitheater that hugs the Tuscan coastline for 8 miles . T he vineyards slowly slope down wards towards the Tyrrhenian Sea while being backed by hills and surrounde
