From Mount Barker comes this barrel-fermented Chardonnay from Gilberts Wines. A curious thing that caught my attention was the scents of wet brown paper and a musty note. Odd... Tinned pineapple, bruised golden apple and firm green tea-like phenolics are the driving forces. The palate is clipped and doesn't reach as much as hoped.
