Prohibition Cellars
Sandor & Sabrina Faludi of Prohibition Cellars Sandor Faludi grew up in Southern Hungary where his grandfather owned a vineyard and made wine. He often helped out in the vineyard, and eventually studied enology and viticulture in Hungary’s Villány wine region. His wife Sabrina is from the US, and is first generation Hungarian-American. After spending her childhood summers in Hungary, Sabrina decided at the age of 18 to attend university there. It was during her freshman year that she met Sandor, and they have been together ever since. In 2010 they moved to CA where Sandor worked in the wine industry, but also made wine in their garage. They dreamed of owning their own winery some day with the name of Prohibition Cellars . A 2016 road trip took them to Washington state where they fell in love with the wine and the people. That same year they moved to Woodinville, and before long licensed their two-car garage as Prohibition Cellars.&n

For M, we're going to discuss Malolactic Fermentation, Conversion, or just MLF. Not MILF. That's quite different. So you'd expect we're going to check out a Chardonnay. By now, you've probably worked out that Mr Smith likes going off on a tangent, so instead, we're checking out a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that is made in an incredibly different style through use of Barriques and MLF, rather than stainless steel, low temperatures and filtration. This way, we can see more just how MLF affects a wine that we're all really familiar with! In this case, we're heading to St Clair in the Wairau region.

Getting help for mental health and substance use issues is not easy. It's made more difficult when access to the appropriate care is denied. Kandyce Walker discusses her work with people experiencing mental health crises, and her advocacy to get them the help they need. Kandyce was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Nursing at Trauma Recovery Institute in Cedar Park, Texas. That center, unfortunately, closed due, in part, to lack of reimbursement. Kandyce began working in trauma and recovery in 2006 as an EMT, then worked as a Paramedic, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and now as a Registered Nurse. Working with patients throughout the process of a physical trauma, Kandyce was witness to its impact on people both physically and emotionally.
