▶️Learn more about this wine and past vintages: https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/angelus+st+emilion+grand+cru+bordeaux+france/2025?utm_source=davidallen&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=enprimeur David Allen MW reviews an En Primeur sample of Chateau Angélus 2025. This edition is a 50:50 blend of Merlot and old-vine Cabernet Franc. David scores the wine 95-96/100. Château Angélus is a well regarded wine estate based in the Saint-Emilion region of northeastern Bordeaux. The property sits on a coveted spot just west of Saint-Émilion town, on a gentle, south-facing slope on the Saint-Émilion plateau. It produces a sumptuous, long-lived Merlot - Cabernet Franc wine that is regularly highly rated by critics. The château was given its name due of the presence of nearby church bells (an "angélus" is a Roman Catholic prayer bell) that could be heard chiming from the original plots of vineyards. The current château now hosts a framework of small bells on its rooftop. The estate was famously

This edition is 51% Merlot with 45% Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. David scores the wine 97-98/100 and feels he may be being conservative. Château Cheval Blanc is a highly lauded wine estate in the Saint-Émilion region of northeast Bordeaux. It is certainly the most famous Cabernet Franc-based wine in the world, albeit often alongside very similar levels of Merlot. Typically, the "grand vin" (the estate's eponymous wine) is lush and full bodied with great weight of fruit. It tends to require ten years of bottle age and the best vintages can last half a century or more. The second wine of the estate is Le Petit Cheval. Given the top accolade of Premier Grand Cru Classé A at the inception of the Sain

Once a competitor of its neighbor Haut Brion, it is now under the same ownership. The wine is 58.3% Merlot with 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Cabernet Franc. The wine is dense and dark, with fresh, bright plum and cherry, supple tannins and mouthwatering acidity. It is likely to age well for several decades but may be supple enough to be accessible in 4 to 5 years. David scores the wine at 95-96/100. Château La Mission Haut-Brion’s near-neighbor and sister estate Château Haut-Brion was the only property from the region featured in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. But La Mission Haut-Brion (rated a Graves Grand Cru i
videoHopes and fears in the US wine market - The Week in Wine, Episode 38
The week is dominated by interest in the US wine market, with three W. Blake Grey stories driving readership. The stories span the current state of the market with recommendations that the number of wineries in the US drop to accommodate the size of the market; there is a glimmer of hope in the resolution of tariff disputes and the slowing of the decline (!) in the market; and there could be progress from Ohio on the much-debated efficacity of the three-tier system. News of wine-searcher's new owner also helps to drive readership as does our list of the world's most-wanted wines. A report from Bordeaux's Right Bank also has Don getting thirsty. Meanwhile, Olly's wine news covers: supermarkets in France trailing AI wine-merchant kiosks to help shoppers; a new medieval winemaking computer game is released; a French cooperage branches out into home décor (with some rather attractive tables); more hope in the US wine market; France's struggle to officially adopt/adapt to drones being use

videoWine Review: 2025 Le Pin, Pomerol | En Primeur
▶️ Learn more about this wine and past vintages: https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/le+pin+pomerol+bordeaux+france?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=enprimeurdcmw David is excited to review an En-Primeur sample of the 2025 Le Pin, one of the most famous wines of Pomerol. The wine is 100% Merlot with 4% Cabernet Franc. He describes aromas showing a ”beautiful essence of red and black fruit” and a palate which is a “sensual experience”. David scores the wine at 98/100, possibly conservatively. Le Pin is a tiny 2.7-hectare (6-acre) property in the Pomerol district of Bordeaux. It was created in 1979 by the Thienpont family (owners of nearby Vieux Château Certan) and quickly rose to prominence to vie for the title of most expensive wine in the world. The 100 percent Merlot wine is extremely concentrated and lush; it can often be drunk young but is best with a decade of aging. The Le Pin vineyard is south-facing and sits on well-drained gravel and sand soils which

▶️ Learn more about this wine and past vintages: https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/trotanoy+pomerol+bordeaux+france?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=enprimeurdcmw David reviews an En-Primeur sample of the 2025 Pomerol Château Trotanoy. The wine is 96% Merlot with 4% Cabernet Franc. He describes it an “incredible fruit bomb” balanced by “lovely fresh acidity”. David scores the wine at 96-98/100. Château Trotanoy is located on the western side of the Pomerol plateau, not far from Pétrus and Lafleur, and covers 7.2 hectares (17.8 acres). It has been owned by négociant JP Moueix since 1953. According to Moueix the vineyard is planted entirely with Merlot, having previously featured a little Cabernet Franc. The wines still tend to include a small component of the latter. In the 18th Century, the estate was known as Trop Ennuie, or "Too Annoying", due to the poor, hard-to-work nature of the soils here. These are made up of clay with deposits of gravel and iron, and a

The property is in the northern Graves on the outskirts of Bordeaux, and is now surrounded by encroaching buildings and roads. It is also flanked by La Mission Haut-Brion, which was bought by Haut-Brion's owners in the early 1980s. The majority of the estate's 51 hectares (126 acres) of vineyard is planted to red varieties with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot covering 48 hectares
