Our selection of rums aged in ex-Sherry casks
Without being exhaustive, we have tried to be as eclectic as possible in this selection, with rums made from molasses, cane honey, pure juice, French, British, or Spanish traditions, with varying degrees of alcohol content, with or without esters, at affordable or higher prices… Finally, some of these vintages have only spent a few months… Cet article Our selection of rums aged in ex-Sherry casks est apparu en premier sur Rumporter .

Interview – Cyrille Lawson, Sales Director at HSE
Read also: Style Focus – When rums aged in ex-sherry barrels take center stage Cyrille, why has it been so long since we’ve seen a Finition du Monde in ex-sherry casks? Because we don’t produce it anymore. Historically, we worked with Anthony Macallan. He had specifically increased his cask requirements to take into account our… Cet article Interview – Cyrille Lawson, Sales Director at HSE est apparu en premier sur Rumporter .

Interview – Grégoire Leyx, CEO of Alter Oak
Read also: Style Focus – When rums aged in ex-sherry barrels take center stage Grégoire, can you explain the differences between sherries? It’s very complicated, even for me, someone who works with ex-sherry casks every day. Behind this Anglo-Saxon word, there are actually several appellations: Pedro Ximénez, Xérès, oloroso, fino, amontillado, palo cortado, manzanilla, PX… .… Cet article Interview – Grégoire Leyx, CEO of Alter Oak est apparu en premier sur Rumporter .

Whisky Review: Johnnie Walker Black Label Blended Scotch
Each week on the Film & Whiskey Podcast, we crack open a classic movie and a new bottle of whiskey. This time, we’re revisiting an old favorite that somehow never made it to the review table: Johnnie Walker Black Label Blended Scotch . Bob was convinced we had reviewed it before, probably because we’ve always compared it favorably to Red Label. But to our surprise, this is the first time we’re officially reviewing it. Johnnie Walker Black Label is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 40% ABV and aged 12 years. Unlike Red Label, which carries no age statement and is clearly intended for mixing, Black Label sits comfortably at the $35 price point and promises a more refined experience. So, how does it stack up against our usual blended Scotch benchmarks like Monkey Shoulder and Chivas Regal? This review is taken from our episode "Hanksgiving VI: Catch Me if You Can / Johnnie Walker Black Label." Click the link to listen to this review in audio format. Nose Brad : Yeah
videoHow Fermentation Influences Whiskey Flavor
There’s more to whiskey than grain alcohol and a barrel. Fermentation can do more than create ethanol—it also creates flavors that will be further developed by the still and the wood. Sydney Jones, supervisor and lead distillery technician at Heaven Hill in Bardstown, Kentucky, explains the process and the wider potential. Wine Review: Exploring Trentino-Alto Adige
I’m tasting a classic of Trentino-Alto Adige along with a grape variety that’s far less common there. Trentino-Alto Adige Italy as a whole has so much wine tradition and varieties to explore that differ from the French-influenced wine industry in most other parts of the world. One region that I... videoI Wasn’t Supposed to Buy This Much Bourbon
Today, we’re back in Fargo, North Dakota, for Part Two of our bourbon hunting trip. After not knowing what to expect in Part One, we keep searching to see what else this area has to offer. This time, we start running into a few more allocated bottles and begin picking some up with a purpose. We’re working on launching a charity, and having allocated bottles will play a role in that, which makes the hunt a little more fun and a bit less restrictive. Along the way, we find a couple of solid bottle
videoGrains of Wisdom Ep. 27: When is fermentation done?
How do you know when fermentation is done? When the bubbles have stopped? When it's totally clear? The only way to know for certain is to measure the gravity with a hydrometer. Specific gravity tells you the sugar content of a liquid sample. Over the course of fermentation, gravity will decrease as sugars are converted into alcohol. If the gravity remains unchanged after a few days, THIS is how you know that fermentation is complete and you are safe to bottle. #homebrewing #winemaking #homemadew

Peter Zemmer Schiava: A Red Wine to Sip Chilled
We may not have quite reached the summer equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, but summer weather is definitely here. We’ve just returned from the Midwest where the temperatures were in the 70s and 80s with similar humidity. The landscape was beautiful and green, but that humidity was not very pleasant. We’re now back to the dry heat we are used […] The post Peter Zemmer Schiava: A Red Wine to Sip Chilled appeared first on Pull That Cork .

Summer Stout Tap Takeover at River North Brewery: Denver's Celebration of Dark Beer
At most breweries, stout season comes and goes with the weather. The temperatures rise, the patio fills up, and the focus shifts entirely to lighter styles built for summer drinking. While we love a crisp lager or easy drinking ale as much as anyone, we've never believed the changing seasons mean dark beer should disappear from the tap list. That's why we're excited to introduce the first ever Summer Stout Tap Takeover at River North Brewery on Saturday, June 20. Inspired by our annual Super...

videoThe Hearach Review | Isle of Harris Single Malt Scotch
Today we’re reviewing The Hearach, the first single malt whisky released by the Isle of Harris Distillery. Named after the Gaelic word for a resident of Harris, this whisky represents the distillery’s debut into Scotch whisky after years of producing their famous Isle of Harris Gin. The Hearach is a lightly peated Island single malt matured in a mix of first fill ex bourbon, ex oloroso, and ex fino sherry casks, giving the whisky a balance of malt sweetness, fruit, spice, and gentle smoke.
