Breaking with the established rules to find one's own identity meant a 4-year search through different valleys and areas of Chile, until finally, and after a long journey, La Ronciere found what they were looking for... The coast of the Curicó Valley, in the Licantén commune, revealed as a dream place for viticulture. Close to the banks of the Mataquito River and about 25 kilometers from the sea, between pronounced hills of the ancient coastal mountain range, a mosaic of different types of metamorphic soils unfolds, such as Licorellas, Shales, Maicillo and some clay loam sectors. The conjunction of such varied elements make this place a true "Microclimate", which meant that it was recognized as a new geographical denomination for winegrowing in Chile, being until now the only vineyard established in this place. In 1903, during the phylloxera crisis, great great grandfather Joan Albet i Rovirosa arrived in the Penedès to work the vineyards at the Can Vendrell de la Codina estate, in Sant Pau d'Ordal. For five generations, the Albet family, tenant farmers of Can Vendrell, have farmed, loved and watched over the vines that are now the protagonists of their wines. Albet i Noya became pioneers in organically farmed wines in Spain in 1978 and have since dedicated strong efforts into researching and recovering of ancestral varieites (like the "new varieties" used for the elaboration of their outstanding wine Albet) and varieties with enhanced resistance against vine diseases (translated into their new white wine La Volada).
