“Scribe Winery has purchased the Arrowhead Vineyard, adjacent to Scribe’s existing estate. It’s the first time owners Andrew and Adam Mariani have grown their land holdings since they founded Scribe in 2007.“We’re trying to build a strong foundation for Scribe,” Andrew Mariani said. Owning Arrowhead will improve the quality of the wines and double down on our story here and the revival of this little corner of Sonoma.”

2025 SCRIBE ESTATE OLIVE HARVEST 🫒🫒🫒

“The olive trees on the SCRIBE Estate are now 15 years old. We first got the idea to plant them after a trip to Italy back in 2010, when our friend Stephen Singer invited me on his annual olive oil pilgrimage to Tuscany. He had been importing Tuscan oil for 20 years, and every October he traveled to taste and buy the fresh olio nuovo from his producers. We drove around the countryside, visiting a few growers each day. At each visit, we’d walk the groves, watch the neon green fresh oil stream out of the mill, taste, and eventually sit at a kitchen table around a plate of toasted fresh bread, rubbed with garlic, and drowned with freshly-pressed olio nuovo. I fell in love with olive oil on that trip; the bite of the grassy green freshness giving way to the rounded fruit and fat of the finish. An ancient taste. Upon my return, we planted four Tuscan varieties of olive trees (Coratina, Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino) and now wait for October each year, a month after the last grapes have be

Tasting the SCRIBE 2024 Estate Skin Fermented Chardonnay with Andrew

This wine started as an experiment in 2010. We had been farming the muscat-like Chardonnay clone 809 for years, and its powerful floral and tropical notes always stood out. Inspired by the skin-contact white wines we admired from Slovenia and Northern Italy, we tried fermenting the fruit on its skins, like a red wine, to balance the aromatic vigor of this unique clone. The wine now sees three months on skins in concrete eggs. This ancient (and resurgent) process adds structure and texture, and the result is a memorably expressive, golden-hued wine. It continues to reveal its complexity and hold its own across the span of a meal – a new expression of California Chardonnay.
