Yes! This is the spirit everybody is talking about. With vintages from 1970 all the way back to 1868, from the Private Cellar of Raj Peter Bhakta, founder of WhistlePig Rye. According to Bhakta, this brandy is the rarest spirit known to mankind. A blend of 8 Armagnac vintages 50-152 years old. This makes it among the oldest spirits on the market. Bhakta Armagnac is finished in Islay Scotch casks for a unique, smoky intrigue. More about the Bhakta Method: 1. The Long Sleep: after 50+ years in oak, the Armagnac is placed into 30L glass containers called "bonbonnes" to stop the aging process and preserve the quality of the eau-de-vie. 2. Preservation: the freshly-distilled Armagnac is carefully selected by the cellar master, who chooses a 400L oak barrel to commence its first years of aging. 3. Master blending: different vintages are blended in large barrels called foudres, with volumes of 2,000-8,000. 4. Scotch Finish: after blending, the brandy enters 200L Islay Whisky casks for a 2-w

The plans for the distillery began in 2012, after a group of entrepreneurs: Gal Kalkshtein, the owner of the distillery, along with Amit Dror, Simon Fried and Roee and Naama Licht decided to establish the first whisky distillery in Israe Since its establishment, the distillery's operations were accompanied by Dr. James Swan, world-renowned whisky expert, until he passed away in February 2017 Since the distillery's founding, the Head Distiller has been Tomer Goren.

Mark McLaughlin and Arch Watkins met in the Navy flying EA-6B Prowlers. In different active duty squadrons, they were both stationed at the same base in at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, in Washington state. After more than a decade of flying off of aircraft carriers and being stationed all over the world, they independently decided to settle down in the mid-Atlantic to focus on family, but ended up in the same Navy reserve Prowler squadron. Coincidentally, they were neighbors in Baltimore as well; Mark working in finance and Arch in engineering. With a healthy stint of travel and adventure behind them, sitting still in their new civilian desk jobs just wasn’t enough. Meet the Maker: Whisky series we at Norfolk Wine and Spirits meet Anthony Wills, Founder and Managing Director of Kilchoman Distillery. Anthony and his wife Kathy created Kilchoman from a collection of derelict farm buildings in 2005, in doing so they established the first new distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. Their passion for whisky and ambition to revive the traditions of farm distilling has transformed Kilchoman from a fanciful dream into celebrated reality. In its early days Kilchoman Distillery was bottling about 7 casks a week and have now grown to 100 casks/week. They have about 12,000 cask aging on Islay.
