However it is made with minimal intervention and is under 50ppm total SO2. I have included it as it is a gateway wine which is getting people into natural wine and bridging the gap between big commercial wineries and small scale artisanal wines. Calcarius I understand this is a controversial producer, there have been accusations of exploitation of workers. I trust the explanation given by the UK importer (les caves de pyrene) and the audits carried out on behalf of government monopolies (such as Norway) which found the working conditions to be satisfactory. In this case I decided to include this wine because it is still being sold and we can raise awareness.

I caught up with the guys from Sequerciani in Tuscany to find out about their natural wines made from all sorts of indigenous grape varieties that you won't easily find outside of Tuscany. The red grapes they specialise in are Pugnitello, Foglia Tonda and Ciliegiolo and they also do a delicious orange wine made from Vermentino which I really love. Everything is done by hand, biodynamic vineyards, no chemicals, no fining or filtering in the winery and no added sulphites. Proper Natty man.
