videoIndependent Bottler Done Right? Dràm Mòr Cask Strength Scotch (Torabhaig & Glen Scotia)
Episode 823 Sample Sunday with drams from Dràm Mòr Group — and this is what independent bottling is all about. Cask strength, natural colour, non-chill filtered… just the way Scotch should be. In the glass: An 8-year-old from Glen Scotia — bright, fruity, full of orchard character with a soft, juicy palate. And 7-year-old, peated release from Torabhaig — coastal, smoky, with BBQ salt and a touch of lemon sweetness. Different styles, same philosophy: let the whisky speak. Going LIVE May 5 at 7PM

ASI Vote on the return of Russian sommeliers raises questions
In late May, the ASI General Assembly was held in Taipei, Taiwan. Among the organizational issues discussed by the presidents of the national associations belonging to ASI, a motion to reinstate Russian sommeliers was unexpectedly put to a vote. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, ASI had not issued any official statements regarding the status of the Russian association, and only in response to a media inquiry did it state that RAS is on hold. Now, in May, the ASI board proposed not to reinstate the entire association’s membership, but merely to allow Russian members to the next competition for the title of Europe’s Best Sommelier. This point was not listed on the agenda in advance and came as a surprise to many of the participants. Twenty-four members voted against, 16 in favor, and 8 abstained. As a result, the suspension of Russian sommeliers was extended at least until the next…

Whiskey Review: Jack Daniel’s Twice-Barreled American Single Malt
We’re dipping into the vault for a special pour this week: the 2022 limited-edition release of Jack Daniel’s Twice-Barreled American Single Malt . It’s a bottle we’ve been holding onto for nearly four years, and one that marked a significant shift for the Jack Daniel’s brand. Crafted under the watch of Brown-Forman master distiller Chris Morris, this American single malt was one of Jack’s first public forays into the category. It’s made from 100% malted barley and undergoes the Lincoln County process of charcoal filtration before aging. First matured in new American oak for just over four years, it’s then finished in freshly emptied Oloroso sherry casks for an additional two years. Bottled at 105.7 proof , this pour blends the structure of American whiskey with the richness of sherry influence. We’re excited to finally uncork this one and see if it lives up to the hype. Here’s how it fared across our categories. Nose Brad: The

The Antiquary is a blended whisky brand owned by the same company which owns the Tomatin distillery. I have previously looked at a cheaper version when I wrote The Antiquary 12 Year Old.
